Barbara Winn-Hagelstam

Barbara is the founder and director of Welcome Home International (WHI). She became heavily involved with the refugee reception crisis in 2015 and took an active role in supporting refugees. Barbara volunteered as a home host, providing accommodation, legal and administrative support, and organizing food and clothing drives for unofficial refugee camps in Callés and Dunkirk in France, as well as Idomeni in Greece. She also worked with Intervolve in Greece, specifically inside military refugee camps in Thessaloniki, providing assistance to refugees in need.

Yves Kanarek


Yves Kanarek became involved with refugees in 2015, volunteering during the reception crisis. They have actively supported labor market integration, working with organizations like Duo for a Job to train refugees and migrants on job searching and business start-ups. Yves also serves as a French tutor at Cafe Lingua and contributes to the finance and funding department at Welcome Home International (WHI).

Amjad Alabdullah


Amjad is a refugee from Syria who holds a degree in civil engineering. He has made significant contributions as a volunteer for organizations such as the Red Cross, utilizing his skills as a translator, trainer, and caregiver. Amjad's background and experience make him a highly valued team member at Welcome Home International (WHI).

 

Talitha Brauer


Talitha is a filmmaker/photographer who works with refugees. She produces documentary films that shed light on the refugee reception crisis in Greece. Currently, she is employed by WHI as a writer and researcher, using her expertise to contribute valuable insights and information to the organization.

Attika Dahri

Attika is an artist who is actively involved in refugee integration at the refugee reception center Le Petit Chateaux. She has gained extensive experience working with refugees and conducts regular training sessions in Dutch language for beginners. Her dedication and expertise in language instruction contribute significantly to the integration process of the refugees she works with.
